Mildred Pelkemeyer

Mildred Blum Pelkemeyer, 92, of Brenham, died July 25, 2017, in Brenham Nursing and Rehab Center.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 28 at Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville with Pastor Jill Vivroux officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Pelkemeyer was born May 19, 1925 in Brenham, TX, to Fritz and Emma (Reddehase) Blum. She was baptized July 19, 1925 and confirmed Sept. 17, 1939, both at Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville.

On Jan. 20, 1946, she was married to Fred Pelkemeyer at Zion Lutheran Church by Rev. Fred Mgebroff. She was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville, where she taught Sunday school and vacation Bible school. She loved the outdoors, taking care of the farm and going fishing. She was a homemaker and loving babysitter and enjoyed having the family together and cooking for them, especially her pork chop casserole. She also liked watching games shows, especially “Wheel of Fortune.”

Survivors include her husband, Fred Pelkemeyer; son and daughter-in-law, James and Joyce Pelkemeyer; son-in-law, James Raines and wife Andrea; grandchildren, Jennifer Pelkemeyer and friend Dwayne Zimmermann; Jill LeBuffe and husband Alex, Jonathan Pelkemeyer and Samantha Wellmann; Bradley Raines, Brock Raines, Brandi Bolin and husband Wes and Miranda Keathley; and great-grandchildren, Tiffany, Tyler and Brenna Raines, Liam , Grant and Oliver LeBuffe, Fredrick and Amelia Pelkemeyer and Presley Bolin; brothers, Raymond Blum and Fred Blum and wife Bernadine; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Brenda Raines; and sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Annadell Blum and Gladys and Luke Marzahn.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Blum, Craig Blum, Dennis Roehling, Mark Marzahn, Wes Bolin, Alex LeBuffe and Dwayne Zimmermann. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville.
