Milroy Kessler

Milroy Kessler was born March 7, 1923 in Burton to Paul and Lizzie Klaus Kessler. He went to be with the Lord on January 7, 2014 at the age of 90. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, January 11, 2014 at St. Peter Lutheran Church of Gay Hill, with Pastor Alan Kethan officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Lea Cemetery. Milroy was baptized and confirmed at St. Martin Lutheran Church of Carmine. He attended Boundary School, and was a member of the first graduating class of Burton High School, later attending Blinn College. He was a proud WWII Veteran, serving in the 38th Bomb Squadron as an Electrical Mechanic. He was married to his loving wife, Jenny Joe Runge Kessler at St. Peter''s Lutheran Church of Gay Hill, and they were married for 57 years. The couple later moved to Pearland. Milroy was a small engine sales rep for Bullard Supply. He served as a Volunteer Fire Chief for 20 years with the Brookside Village Fire Dept. Memberships included the La Bahia Turn Verein, and the American Legion Post #242 of Burton. The family attended St. Peter Lutheran Church of Gay Hill. Milroy was very proud of his German heritage, and loved researching his family tree. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law Donna and Terry Hall, Brenda and Jerry Pritchett, and Pam and Ronnie Polasek; grandchildren: Chris Hall, Scott Hall and wife Susan, Jason Pritchett and wife Crystal, Amanda Watley and husband Daryl, Brittany and Emily Polasek; great-grandchildren: Gracie and Colson Pritchett and Devin Watley. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jenny Joe Kessler, and Douglas Earl, Paul and Lizzie Kessler. Serving as pallbearers are Chris Hall, Scott Hall, Jason Pritchett, Daryl Watley, and Paul Kessler. Memorials may be directed to St. Peter Lutheran Church of Gay Hill, or to the Burton American Legion.
