Milton Fischer

Milton Lee Fischer, 79, of Carmine, the husband of Pauline Poehls Fischer, died September 1, 2012 in College Station. The funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m., Thursday, September 6, at Martin Luther Lutheran Church, with Pastor David Tinker officiating. Burial will be in the Carmine City Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends and relatives Wednesday, September 5, 2012 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Milton was born July 24, 1933 in Giddings, Texas to Willie E. and Erna Duisberg Fischer. He was baptized August 13, 1933 by Pastor W. Mueller, and confirmed March 30, 1947 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings by Pastor Max Studtmann. On March 14, 1954, Milton was married to Pauline Poehls at Martin Lutheran Luther Church in Carmine by Pastor A.T. Kluge. Milton was self-employed as a brick layer, and was a member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church of Carmine. He barbecued for many in the Burton and Carmine area, as well as at C&C Drive Inn, Felders and 4G''s. People would come from all areas just to eat his barbecue, and he competed in a number of barbecue cook-offs. He loved to fish, hunt deer, and play slow pitch softball. Milton enjoyed working at Kessler''s Farm. Survivors include his wife Pauline Fischer; daughters and sons-in-law Kalisa and Brice Pomykal of Brenham, and Paula and Ralph Barrick of Lake Jackson; sisters and brothers-in-law Joyce and Ilo Dean Ullrich; grandchildren: Hunter Pomykal, Kody Fox, Jon Jankowiak, Bobbie Hughes, Tammi Hughes, and a great-granddaughter, Kandyce Hughes. He was preceded in death by his parents. Serving as pallbearers are Bobbie Hughes, Jon Jankowiak, Hunter Pomykal, Rocky Ullrich, Ricky Stiewert, and David Matthijetz. Honorary pallbearers are Kody Fox and Albert Matthijetz. Memorials may be given to Martin Luther Lutheran Church.
