Milton Flentge

March 29, 1927 — August 17, 2017

Milton H. Flentge, 90, husband of LaRuth Boecker Flentge, passed away August 17, 2017 in Brenham.

Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 p.m., Sunday, August 20, 2017 at Salem Lutheran Church, with Pastor Charles Parnell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

Milton Flentge was born March 29, 1927 in the Wesley community of Washington County to Otto and Ella (Priesmeyer) Flentge. He was baptized June 5, 1927 in Salem Lutheran Church by Pastor William Utesch, who confirmed him on March 17, 1940, also at Salem Lutheran Church. He attended Wesley area schools, and Blinn College. Milton proudly served his country in the U. S. Army.

On October 24, 1953, he was married to LaRuth Boecker by Pastor W. Wolf in Salem Lutheran Church of Welcome. He worked for 26 years at Maddox Furniture Co. and retired from the Brenham State School in 1992.

After retirement, Milton was very busy, refinishing furniture for many in this area. He also enjoyed gambling trips, and fishing. He also treasured time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, LaRuth Flentge, of Brenham; daughter, Marsha Ray of Bryan; grandchildren: Michael (Rachel) Ray, Mitchell (Tracy) Ray, Tyler (Renee) Ray; great-grandchildren: Jack Mitchell Ray, Natalie Ray, Olivia Ray, Jay Gilmore, Karris Gilmore, Tyler Gilmore, and Kaci Gilmore; sister, Mary Tockhorn; sister-in-law Floradell Boecker, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Burney and Earline Boecker, all of Brenham. Milton is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Last but not least, he is survived by his faithful pet and couch companion, Elvis.

Milton was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, Otto and Minnie Boecker; daughter, Deborah Flentge Dorman, and son-in-law, John Dorman; son-in-law Jack (Tebo) Ray, Jr; brothers and sister-in-law, Albert Flentge, Ernst Flentge, and Otto Flentge (Irene); sisters and brothers-in-law: Alma Wensel (Ruben), Helen Dannhaus (Raymond), and Dorothy Felscher (William “Bill”). Also preceding him in death are sister-in-law and brother-in-law Bernita and Walter Hueske, and brother-in-law Leon Boecker.

Serving as pallbearers are Michael Ray, Mitchell Ray, Tyler Ray, Charles Hirsch, Mack Wayne Morris, Edward Lee Wensel, Glenn Flentge, Jeff Tockhorn, and Steve Williford.

Memorials may be directed to Salem Lutheran Church or to any favorite charity.
