Minnie Wendler

Minnie Lee Werland Hasselman Wendler, 93, of Brenham, died Dec. 4, 2004, at her residence. Mrs. Wendler was born Jan. 26, 1911, in Burlington, TX, to Elo H. and Dora Bruedigam Werland. She was baptized Feb. 26, 1911, in Burlington and was confirmed May 15, 1924, also in Burlington. On Dec. 26, 1929, she married Walter T. Hasselman in Burlington. He died on Sept. 13, 1967. On Oct. 7, 1976, she married Alton R. Wendler in Bethany Lutheran Church in Fredericksburg. Mrs. Wendler was a retired division manager for Sears. She was a member of St. Paul s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brenham, where she was a member of the Ladies Aid. She was also a member of Gay Hill Sons of Hermann Lodge. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Robert Brown of Chappell Hill; sister and brother-in-law, Doreen and Mack Munson of Burton; 4 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews, Valerie Graham of Onalaska, Sandye and Randy Fletcher of Martinsville, Indiana, Mike and Sherry Horrocks of Brenham, Paul and Patricia Casinger of Webster, Donald Casinger of Hobbs, New Mexico and Cabot and Sheila Casinger of Lewisville. Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; a nephew; and a great-nephew. The family will receive visitors at Memorial Oaks Chapel Tuesday, Dec. 7 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8 in St. Paul s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brenham with Pastor Lawrence Bade officiating. A graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston. Pallbearers will be Michael Horrocks, Randy Fletcher, Paul Casinger, Cabot Casinger, Clay Fletcher, Donald Casinger, Gene Goerlitz and William Wendler. Honorary pallbearers will be Clyde Werland, Frank Scooter Graham and Keith Graham. Memorials may be given to St. Paul s TV Ministry or to St. Paul s Ladies Aid. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., in Brenham.
