Miriam Gaskamp

February 3, 1925 — February 26, 2016

Miriam Steinbach Gaskamp, age 91, of Brenham, died on February 26, 2016 at her home. The widow of Garrett H. Gaskamp. Funeral service will be Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter''s Lutheran Church of Gay Hill, with Pastor Skip Stutts officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held on Monday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

Miriam was born on February 3, 1925 to Louis Christian and Lena Noerenberg Steinbach Sr. in Gay Hill. She was educated in the Gay Hill School. Miriam was married to Garrett H. Gaskamp on August 4, 1957. For many years Miriam served as the Church organist at Friedens United Church of Christ in Gay Hill. Miriam was baptized, confirmed and married and later became a member of St. Peter''s Lutheran Church, Gay Hill, where she was a faithful member until her death.

Miriam enjoyed being with her family as a homemaker, she enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, and gardening and was a wonderful cook with fried chicken being her specialty.

Survivors include her son; Gary Wayne Gaskamp of Brenham, and her canine companion- Sam. Sister-in-law; Rosalee Gaskamp of Hallettsville, TX, sister-in-law and brother-in-law; Betty and Roland Lueckemeyer of Cypress TX., brother-in-law and sister-in-law; Louis and Loretta Gaskamp of Cypress TX. Special Nephews and their families; Dale and Nannette Steinfeld, and their children Heidi and David Steinfeld, Steven and Kendall Steinfeld, and their children Spencer and Dustin Steinfeld. Special Niece and family; Sandra Steinfeld Liere and husband Richard, and their daughter Stacy Liere, David and Pat Steinbach of Austin, Craig and Karen and their families. Numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends. Special helper and family friend, Lonnie Johnson and special friend Dorothy Kasper and care givers Clara Gibson, Twilia Fielder and Ann Fielder who provided her with loving care.

She was preceded in death by her Husband Garrett H. Gaskamp, parents,

Sr. and Lena Steinbach, father-in-law and mother-in-law; Louis and Louise Gaskamp, sisters and brothers-in-law; Gladys and Charlie Steinfeld Jr., Lillian and Howard Payne, brother and sister-in-law; Louis C. Jr. and Floy Steinbach, brothers-in-law; Perry, Leroy and Rueben Gaskamp, sister-in- law; Verda Gaskamp and sister-in-law and brother-in-law; Pearl and Melvin Hugo, Nephews; James and David Hugo.

Pallbearers include; Dale Steinfeld, David Steinfeld, Steven Steinfeld, Dustin Steinfeld, Richard Liere, David Steinbach, Lloyd Hugo and David Kelm. Honorary Pallbearers include; Jeff and Jeremy Krueger and Russell Neinast.

Memorials may be given to St. Peter''s Lutheran Church of Gay Hill or Hospice Brazos Valley.
