Monica Lucherk

Monica Bernadette Springer Lucherk, 79, of Burton, passed away September 9, 2016, surrounded by loving family members in a Houston hospital.

Mrs. Lucherk was born January 30, 1937, in Chappell Hill, Texas, to Henry and Sophie (Lewandowski) Springer. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Chappell Hill.

On February 4, 1956, Monica was married to Chester Lucherk at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. She retired from Burton Independent School District, where she enjoyed working in the cafeteria. Mrs. Lucherk was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Brenham and Burton Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She loved being with her family, shopping, playing pitch, gardening, cooking, and baking. She was equally passionate about watching her children and grandchildren show their steers and was affectionately known as Busha.

Monica was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Morgan Brittain; and sisters, Gertrude Bilski, Mary Cone, Teresa Kimich, and Clara Cone.

Survivors include her husband, Chester Lucherk of Burton; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Lucherk of Hempstead, Timothy and Karen Lucherk of McCoy, Kenneth and Patsy Lucherk of Brenham, and Kevin and Misty Lucherk of Burton; daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia and Steve Brittain of Florence, and Kimberly and Glenn Wilson of Hempstead; grandchildren, Springer Brittain, Sophie Brittain, Kody Lucherk and wife Loni, Kara Lucherk, Blake Lucherk, Taylor Lucherk, Tyler Lucherk, Presley Wilson, Parker Wilson, Riley Lucherk, and Cooper Lucherk; sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy and Roy Matthews, and Stephanie and Ken Middleton, all of Houston; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 11 at Memorial Oaks Chapel with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. The funeral Mass for Monica Lucherk will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 12 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Brenham with Father Ernesto Elizondo, celebrant. Burial will be held in the St. Stanislaus Catholic Church Cemetery in Chappell Hill.

Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Her Godchildren, Brian Lucherk, Mark Cone, and Mandy Kalkhake will be considered honorary pallbearers.
