Monte R. Estes, 82, of Brenham, died May 24, 2007 at his residence. Mr. Estes was born October 20, 1924 in San Antonio, Texas to Ed and Lucille Barner Estes. He was married to Evelyn Weyerts on April 10, 1947 in Sabnial, Texas. Mr. Estes served in the Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He was employed by Armco Steel as a welder. He was a member of the Country Bible Church and a life member of V.F.W. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn R. Estes; a son, Kenneth Frazier and wife Kathy of Baytown; daughter, Barbara Kaldis and husband Costa of Burton; a brother, Claude Estes of Uvalde; sisters Lucille Patterson of Houston and Lola Kay Bisset of Alliquppa, Pa.; three grandchildren: Tina Gatschet, George Kaldis and Nikki Di Gennaro, as well as six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Monte Gene Estes; a granddaughter, Shannon Frazier, as well as four sisters and a brother. Funeral services for Monte R. Estes will be held Monday, May 28, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at the Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham, with Pastor Mike Smith of the Country Bible Church officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery. A visitation will be held Sunday, May 27, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Serving as pallbearers are Craig Lesser, Garth Griffith, Charlie Morgan, George Savelle, Pete Mauney, and Kent Buford. Memorials may be given to Country Bible Church Building Fund. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., Brenham, TX 77833.
