Montie Ray Cole, Jr., 71, husband of Mary Lee Rosenbaum Cole, passed away February 18, 2009 in Brenham. Montie was born in Brenham on June 10, 1937 to Montie Ray, Sr. and Katie Edna Lanford Cole. He was baptized April 17, 1949 in the First Christian Church of Brenham and confirmed in Immanuel Lutheran Church of Wiedeville in 1956. Montie was a graduate of Brenham High School. On September 2, 1955, he married Mary Lee Rosenbaum in the First Christian Church of Brenham. Upon retiring from Mt. Vernon Mills-Brentex Division after 38 years as the Purchasing Agent, he worked 14 years as the Warranty Administrator for Appel Ford. Montie enjoyed watching hours of cooking shows, and greatly enjoyed time spent with his family and friends, most especially with his nieces and nephews. He kept the lawn well-manicured and his cars were spotless. Cheering on his favorite sports teams, including the Longhorns, Cowboys and the Astros, were among his favorite pastimes. Daily driving excursions with Mary, his wife and best friend, was something he cherished. Survivors include his wife, Mary Lee Cole; a sister, Barbara Darilek of Houston; sisters and brothers-in-law Wallene and William Ludwig, Bonnie and Pete Demuth, all of Brenham, and Martha and Larry Lischka of Bellville; nieces and nephews Sherri Jordan, Raymond Darilek Jr. and Amanda, Cindy and Jeff Stueber, Melissa and Jim McCune, Kristie and Jeremy Chasteen, Michael Demuth, Jessica and Eric Kiihne, Troy and Kerry Lischka, Jason and Erin Lischka, Mark and Katie Lischka, Grant and Lanthia Lischka, and Dwayne and Mary Gajewski; great-nieces and great-nephews: Chris and Samantha Moss, Jesse Jordan and Kelley Kounter, Jasmine Darilek, Shelby, Regan, Randi, Ryan and Jenny Stueber, Caitlin and Ashlyn Gajewski, James McCune, Sidney, Sam, Spencer and Sutton Chasteen, Tanner and Corbin Demuth, Mason, Alex, Ross, Madeline, Ella, Emma & Sarah Lischka; great-great nieces and nephews, Josh and Emily Moss and Madison Stueber; numerous aunts, uncles, and special friends, Leeland and Florence Rinn. He was preceded in death by his parents, Montie Sr. and Katie Cole, and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ervin and Bernice Rosenbaum. Funeral services for Montie Ray Cole, Jr. will be held Saturday, February 21, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, with Pastors Matthew Jacobs and William Holzer officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery. Visitation with family and friends will take place Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Serving as pallbearers are Lloyd Stelter, Greg Pecht, Julian Martin, Delano Klausmeyer, Edward Wensel, Allen Stelter, Alan Reed, and Raymond Darilek. All nieces and nephews will be considered honorary pallbearers. Memorials may be directed to the Grace Lutheran Church Radio Ministry.
