Montie Ray Cole, Sr., 93, of Brenham, died Feb. 12, 2005, in Trinity Medical Center in Brenham. Mr. Cole was born Feb. 25, 1911, in Brady, Texas, to Bert and Rosie Stanley Cole. On Dec. 25, 1935, he was married to Katie Edna Lanford in Brenham Christian Church. In 1937, Mr. Cole began working for Brenham Cotton Mill, later known as Brentex Mills. He retired in 1976 as superintendent of weaving. After retirement he had his own lawnmower repair service. Mr. Cole was a member of First Christian Church in Brenham. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Montie Jr. and Mary Cole of Brenham; daughter, Barbara Darilek of Houston; grandchildren, Raymond Darilek, Jr. and fiancée Amanda of Houston and Sherri Jordan of Houston; great-grandchildren, Chris Moss and wife Samantha of Jacksonville, North Carolina and Jesse Jordan and special friend Kelly of Houston; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Harold and Martha Lanford of Brenham, Charles Lanford of San Antonio, John Marin of Martinez, California, Delores Dyson of Brenham and Marie Heuvel of Brenham; special nieces, Sandra Carter and Mary Lou Thomas of Oklahoma City; and special friend, Marvin Breneman of Brenham. He was preceded in death by his wife and parents. A private graveside service will be held Monday at Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to First Christian Church in Brenham or Hospice Brazos Valley.
