Myrven Hollinger Cron passed away peacefully on March 9th, 2016.

Myrv was born November 5, 1923 in Casper, Wyoming. His family later moved to Houston where he graduated from San Jacinto High School. During those years he earned his Eagle Scout rank and was later able to pin his medal on Sam McDonald, his grandson, at Sam''s Eagle Scout ceremony. He graduated from Rice University in 1944 with a degree in Chemical Engineering. From there he went into the Navy and was Lt. JG USNR and served on the USS Chicago. He was in the Pacific and ended up in Tokyo Bay for the signing of the Peace Accord with Japan.

After the Navy, he returned to Houston, eventually founding Cron Chemical Corporation, which is now a part of a large worldwide conglomerate. In his career, he also started other businesses in which he served as CEO.

In 1974, he married Katie McDonald who he met on a blind date. After years in Houston, they moved in 1983 to Chappell Hill, TX where they restored an 1855 Queen Anne Victorian House. After years in the home, they opened it up as The Mulberry House, a B&B.

He was an avid tennis player and belonged to the Houston Racquet Club for many years. His love for the outdoors included opening the first marina on Lake Conroe, The Anchorage. He enjoyed sailing and fishing both at the lake and in Galveston on his yacht the "Katie Ann".

His favorite pastime was wood working. He initially did holiday items requested by Katie, which evolved to elegant, intricate and realistic carvings of all types of birds. Many of his carvings can be seen around the area as they were often donated as fundraising auction items benefiting numerous charities in Washington County.

When not carving, he loved spending time with family and friends and traveling having taken many cruises with the Rice Alumni group that covered locations around the world.

Myrv is survived by his wife, Katie and their 3 daughters: Nancy and Paul Lippold of Missouri City, TX; Betsy and Paul Muncy of Dallas, TX; and Kim McDonald of Round Rock, TX. Seven grandchildren: Ryan and Sharidan Lippold, Neal and Allenson Lippold, Alicia and Stuart Petty, Blake Pugh, Brooke and Mike Canning, Brynne Muncy and Sam McDonald plus nine great grandchildren.
