Following a family graveside burial, a celebration of life service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, January 13, 2023, at Brenham’s First Baptist Church, 304 N. Market St., Brenham, Texas, officiated by Pastor Troy Sikes.

On Thanksgiving Day November 27, 1958, in England, Arkansas, Nancy married her true love, Jim Humphrey. The first and most important job she had was being the mother to three rambunctious boys. While raising Scott, Jay, and Bruce she also held down numerous jobs. She was an executive secretary in the oil and gas industry in Houston, Texas. She also served as a church secretary for numerous congregations. Nancy was an excellent seamstress and created priceless quilts for loved ones. Her expertise did not stop at quilts. She was known locally as an expert doll maker. She taught numerous Sunday school and Bible study classes to the ladies of the church. She also served as a Christian mentor to many. Nancy’s greatest joy was being a grandmother. She loved doting on her four grandchildren, whether she was walking hand in hand with them through the bluebonnets, taking a trip to Bluebell to sample the ice cream, or having them read the Christmas Story from Luke on Christmas Day. She was sweet, kind, gentle, and had a happy spirit. In the words of her husband, she was the ultimate grandmother.
Nancy is preceded in death by her parents Hubert and Mary Joe Jackson, her brothers Billy and Jimmy Jackson, and her son Jay Paul Humphrey.
She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Jim Humphrey. She is also survived by her son Scott Humphrey and wife Jackie of Gonzales, Texas and their sons Jakob and Jaron Humphrey; son Bruce Humphrey and wife Luanne of Katy, Texas and their daughters Kensley Cobb, her husband Matt Cobb, and daughter Riley Humphrey; sister Sandra West and husband Carroll of England, Arkansas.
