Nancy Maass

Nancy Stark Maass, 78, of Brenham, TX, died on February 3, 2022.

A visitation will be held from 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., Sunday, February 6, 2022 at Memorial Oaks Chapel with the family present from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 7, 2022 at St. John’s United Church of Christ of Burton with Pastor Darrin Holub officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Nancy was born on December 14, 1943 in Bellville, TX to AJ and Hazel Krueger Stark. She married her husband, Henry Charles Maass, on July 8, 1967 at First United Methodist Church of Bellville. She graduated at Bellville High School, Blinn College, Sam Houston State University, and attended Texas A&M University.

Nancy taught at the Brenham and Burton Schools for thirty-six years. She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Burton, TX, and of the Louise Giddings Retired Teachers. She enjoyed to quilt, especially for St. John’s United Church of Christ. She played volleyball at Bellville High School as well as at the church. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and the Genealogical Society. She volunteered at the Brazos Valley Hospital, as well as the Nancy Carol Roberts Memorial Library. She loved to watch game shows and sports, especially the Astros and Texans on tv. She loved her children very much and loved to spend time with them. She also loved to spend time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Christopher Maass and wife Lili of Austin, TX, and Tadd Maass and wife Julie of Little Elm, TX; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Luther Gregor and wife Ora Lee of Brenham, TX; sister, Carolyn Bunch of Bellville, TX; grandchildren, Peyton Maass and Sofia Maass.

She is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; brother, Charles Stark, and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Matilda and Henry Maass.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Bruce Kettler, Nathan Bunch, Todd Chaddock, Calvin Farrack, Kevin Dryer, David Dryer, and Eldon Mikeske. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the Quilting Group of St. John’s United Church of Christ.

Memorials may be directed to St. John’s United Church of Christ of Burton or Hospice Brazos Valley.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main Street, Brenham, TX 77833.
