Nancy Thiel

Nancy Lee Curtis Thiel, 85, passed away April 15, 2018 at her residence in Brenham.

The funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, with Pastors Phil Fenton and Brianna Merkle officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

Nancy Thiel was born December 16, 1932 in Siloam, Arkansas to Alfred Andrew and Agnes Valentine Gamble Curtis. She was confirmed in 1951, and on September 16, 1950, she was married to Leon Thiel. They were married for 67 years. Nancy was self-employed as an interior designer.

Survivors include her husband, Leon Thiel, of Brenham; brother Joe Clark Curtis (Fleeta) of Kerrville; sister, Zula Marie (Gene) Arnold of Brenham. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, and her loving son, Troy D. Thiel.

Serving as pallbearers are Wade Petty, Jerry Curtis, Jerry Kohring, Ronnie Lueckemeyer, Terry Petty, and Randy Holtgrave. Mike Curtis and Dr. Anthony Manfree are honorary pallbearers.

Memorials may be directed to St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church Sunday School. The family wishes to thank the caregivers who lovingly cared for Nancy in her home.
