Natalia Van Meter, 79, of Brenham, died Friday, December 20, 2019.

Natalia was born in Mill Creek Switch on December 31, 1939, which is New Year’s Eve. She shares being born on New Year’s Eve with her beloved grandmother, Alvina (Grote) Weiss. She was welcomed home by her loving parents, Albert and Leona (Gaskamp) Weiss and her sister, Janet.

Natalia moved to Houston, Texas at the age of two, during World War II. After the war, the family moved to Welcome, Texas. She graduated from Bellville High School in 1958. She also worked in Houston before attending Austin Business College and achieving an Associates Degree in Accounting.

Natalia married Bob Sudderth and moved to Edward’s Air Force Base in California and then to Seattle, Washington. Natalia was a very hard-working and intelligent woman. She headed the accounts payable department of “Pay ‘n Save”, which was a large ‘Walmart’ type of company for eighteen years. After sometime, she got a divorce in 1985.

Natalia married Paul Van Meter, a widower, on March 22, 1986. She gained a wonderful family of three children and five grandchildren who she loved. Paul and Natalia loved to travel, fish and hunt together. She had a wonderful life with Paul and she loved him very much! She also loved Christ with all of her heart and served Him her whole life.

Survivors include her aunt, Viola Lawson; nieces, Theresa Clay and husband Phil of Hot Springs, AR, Elizabeth Pomykal, and Kathie Boehnemann of Brenham; stepson and daughter-in law, David and Theresa Van Meter of Craig, MT; stepdaughter and son-in law, Paulette and Bernie Campbell of Cascade, MT; step-grandchildren, Michelle and John Pike, Sean Van Meter, Nick Van Meter, and Aaron Hutchins; and 8 step-great-grandchildren.

Natalia is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Van Meter, parents, sister, Janet Pomykal, brother Lilburn Weiss, brother-in-law, Verde Pomykal, and step-daughter, Debra Van Meter- Morales.

Pallbearers will be Brian Long, Brant Oertli, Stephen Boehnemann, Ronnie Weiss, Garry Weiss, and John Grounds.

Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., on Thursday, December 26, 2019. The funeral service will be on Friday December 27, at 1:00 p.m. at Wesley Brethren Church with Pastor Michael Groseclose officiating.

Memorials may be directed to Hospice Brazos Valley or Wesley Brethren Church Cemetery Fund.
