Nelda Wieghat Gaskamp, 82, widow of Alfred Gaskamp, passed away September 29, 2011 in Bluebonnet Hills Care Center. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Monday, October 3, 2011 at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Wiedeville, with Pastor Jim Abbott officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives Sunday evening from 5 until 7 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Nelda was born January 21, 1929 in Wiedeville to Fritz and Amanda Schmidt Wieghat. Baptized and confirmed in St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill, she was educated in area schools. On October 19, 1947, she was married to Alfred Gaskamp by Rev. Paul Gogolin, also in St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill. She was employed by Nat''s Tiny Tots, sewing children''s clothes. Along with her husband, Nelda was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Wiedeville. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Carrie Gaskamp of Kingwood; daughter Ruth Gaskamp of Brenham; grandchildren Lucas and Megan Gaskamp and Clay and Kristina Gaskamp; great-grandchildren: Cameron Logan and Carson Lane Gaskamp; sister, Annie Gaskamp; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Raymond and Ann Gaskamp, Melvin and Pearl Gaskamp, and Clarence and Bernice Gaskamp, all of Brenham; sister-in-law Meta Mutscher of Brenham, and Florence Gaskamp of Richmond. A son, Fred Allen Gaskamp preceded her in death, as did her husband, Alfred Gaskamp, and her parents, Fritz and Amanda Wieghat. Also preceding her in death were sister-in-law Louise Gaskamp; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Thekla and Jim Lueckemeyer, Monroe and Lillian Gaskamp, Henry and Alma Gaskamp, Herbert and Hattie Gaskamp, and brothers-in-law, Walter Gaskamp, Herbert Mutscher, and Otto Gaskamp. Serving as pallbearers are Charles Gaskamp, Fred Gaskamp, Douglas Buck, Mike Kluck, Darrell Kieke, and Keith Vesper. Memorials may be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church of Wiedeville.
