Nora Lorene Weinert Braun, widow of Edward E. Braun, passed away April 1, 2013 in St. Mark''s Hospital in LaGrange, at the age of 102. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Carmine with Pastor David Tinker officiating. Interment will be in the Carmine Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 until 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening at Foehner Funeral Home in Burton. Nora Lorene Braun was born May 8, 1910 in Cayote, Texas, the daughter of Richard and Bertha Wolff Weinert. She was baptized in the Cayote Lutheran Church, and at a very young age, moved back to the Carmine-Round Top area, where she spent the rest of her life. Nora was confirmed in the Round Top Lutheran Church by Rev. A. H. Falkenberg. After attending the Carmine Public School, she completed a B.S. degree at Sam Houston University in Huntsville. Known as Mrs. Nora to her many students, she taught in the Round Top-Carmine School for 45 years, most of those years spent as a first grade teacher. She also taught Sunday School in the Martin Luther Lutheran Church for 20 years. Nora married Edward E. Braun on Dec. 4, 1938, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 11, 1986. She was also predeceased by her parents, one brothers and one sister. Survivors include special friends Ronnie and Rene Zwernemann, and their sons, Randall and Raylon. She was a member of the Martin Luther Lutheran Church, and the Ladies Aid. Memorials may be directed to Martin Luther Lutheran Church of Carmine. Serving as pallbearers are Ronnie Zwernemann, Randall Zwernemann, Raylon Zwernemann, Jim Shatto, Ilo Dean Ullrich, David Eilers, Todd Weinert, and Ralph Hackemack.
