Norma Luedemann

February 28, 1916 — March 5, 2005

Norma C. Luedemann, 89, of Brenham, passed away on March 5, 2005, in Brenham. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, March 8 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Peter s Lutheran Church in Gay Hill with Pastor Virgil Pecht officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. today in Memorial Oaks Chapel. Norma was born on Feb. 28, 1916, to Dr. J.A. and Nathalie Gindorf Luedemann of Brenham. She was baptized in her parents home and was confirmed in St. Peter s Lutheran Church of Gay Hill, where she was a member all her life. She taught Sunday school for many, many years and served as president many years for the women s organization. She was also a member of the Altar Guild and served as its president. Norma served her church as organist and was also a member of the council, serving as treasurer for one term and secretary for one term. Norma received her education in Cedar Hill, Gay Hill and Brenham High School. She attended Blinn College, received her B.S. degree from San Marcos, did some credit work at the University of Texas, received her master s degree from the University of Houston and earned several hours toward a Ph.D. At the age of 19, Norma started her teaching career in Williams School and then taught at William Penn School She then taught first grade in Seguin, Austin and LaMarque. The last 15 years of her career were done as director of elementary education in Galena Park schools. She retired in 1978, returning to the home outside of Brenham, where she was born. She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Gertrude Krueger of San Antonio; sister-in-law, Louise Luedemann of Brenham; two nephews, Ralph and George Krueger and their wives, Vicki and Janet; three nieces; one step nephew, Jim Amxy of Dallas, wife Jan and their two children; one step niece, Mary, husband John Paul Blankenship and their two sons of Dallas; and a special friend who lived with her, Margie Perkins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. and Mrs. J.A. Luedemann; two brothers, Raymond and Ervin; and brother-in-law, Ben Krueger. Pallbearers will be Ralph Krueger, George Krueger, Floyd Edward Hueske, James Hueske, Eugene Thielemann, Leroy Thielemann, Gregory Pecht, Bradley Fischer, Stanley Sommer and Timmy Klaus.
