Norma Weiss

Norma Lee Weiss, age 90, passed away on January 4, 2021. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, January 7, 2021, at Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham, Texas. You are welcome to arrive to the cemetery early if you’d like to visit with the family.

Norma Lee was born on October 18, 1930, in Cleveland Oklahoma to parents George Elmer and Effie (Patrick) Dawson. She grew up in the area with her sisters and brother. She attended school in the Cleveland School District area.

In the 1950 Norma and her young family moved to Houston. Norma was employed by Houston Lighting and Power in the billing department for many years. She was a loving and supportive mother to her house full of boys.

In 1988, Norma was united in marriage to Donald Weiss. Norma and Don were two peas in a pod, and they treasured every moment spent together. Early in their marriage they lived in Magnolia. After retiring from their jobs at Houston Lighting and Power, the couple got a wild hair and decided to move to Fredericksburg. They built a wonderful life in the hill country, and they enjoyed having family over to spend time shopping and enjoying the local area. Norma and Don’s greatest joy in life, besides their family, was traveling. They took many trips in and out of the US, including cruises to Europe.

In the mid 2000’s, as they grew older, Norma and Don decided to move to his hometown of Brenham. Norma enjoyed having her sons in nearby cities. Norma and Don were members of Salem Lutheran Church. As they slowed down in life and couldn’t enjoy traveling as much, Norma made her home and garden as beautiful as possible. She had a green thumb and enjoyed planting flowers and vegetables.

Norma is preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Stella Moore and Ella Durenberger; brother-in-law David Almy; and her son Richard Nunley.

Norma is survived by her loving husband Don; her sons Randy Nunley, Ron Nunley (wife Marian), Rolly Nunley, Roger Nunley; grandchildren Christine Nunley (husband Jason Marshall), Erik Nunley, Christian Nunley, Roger Nunley Jr, Dustin Nunley, Trey Nunley, and Brandon Nunley; sister Ila Almy, brother JE Dawson (wife Mary Jo); and numerous nieces and nephews.
