Norman Beckendorf

September 18, 1927 — April 21, 2013

Norman Beckendorf was born in Addicks, Tx. on September 18, 1927. On the beautiful spring afternoon of April 21, 2013, Norman passed from this earth to be with the love of his life and bride, Dianne. In life, they were together for all too brief a time, but now will spend eternity side by side. Graveside services for Norman are scheduled for 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 24, 2013 in Richland Spring Cemetery in Richland Springs, Texas, with Shawn Ellis officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday evening at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham. Norman was a generous man who enjoyed the outdoors, taking care of his family, friends, and his animals. He was a bull-riding cowboy and a dairyman who worked hard all of his life. Norman and his granddaughter, Marissa, would spend hours sitting on his truck''s tailgate, talking and watching the cows. He also enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune with his little buddy Owen on his lap. He was blessed to have great friends in San Saba who loved to tell stories about each other. Everyone was lucky to have spent time with Norman, and all know that he is with Dianne, and finally at peace. Special thanks to his primary physician, Dr. Mamigonian and one of the wonderful nurses from Hospice Brazos Valley, Debra Ford. Debra was with us at the end and helped us as he passed, and then took care of him afterwards. Thanks also to the hospice staff who gave such compassionate care to him. Norman is survived by his daughter, Dorothy and husband Mark Townson of Somerville; daughter, Vicki and husband Arthur Wayne Averitt of Austin; brother, John Beckendorf and wife Carol of Brenham; grandchildren: Marissa Townson, who was also his caregiver and a constant presence in his life, Ryan Averitt and wife Julie, Paige Wilson and husband Kevin, Noel Wilds and husband Jack, and Also surviving are two great-grandchildren, Thomas and Austin. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Dianne Beckendorf, parents Fritz and Ella Beckendorf, a brother, Francis Beckendorf and a sister, Oralee. Memorials may be directed to Hospice Brazos Valley. Funeral arrangements for Norman Beckendorf are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main, Brenham.
