Odell C. Lueckemeyer, 87, of Brenham, TX, died peacefully on the morning of March 20, 2015, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer''s disease. The family will receive friends and relatives from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday, March 22, at Memorial Oaks Chapel. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 23, at St. Peter''s Episcopal Church in Brenham with Pastors Phillip Fenton and Karen Nelson officiating. A private graveside service will be held. Mr. Lueckemeyer was born Dec. 12, 1927, at New Wehdem, near Brenham, the son of Theo and Lottie Chernosky Lueckemeyer. He was baptized March 25, 1928 by the Rev. M.C. Hoermann and confirmed March 29, 1942 by the Rev. H.T. Flachmeier at St. James Lutheran Church of New Wehdem. He attended Austin County public schools. His formal education was interrupted when his three brothers served in the military during World War II. As the only son to help on the farm, he was unable to serve the U.S. at that time. He has always been extremely patriotic. On Dec. 6, 1952, he and Willie Mae Schoenberg of Carmine were united in marriage. They were the parents of a son, John, and daughter, Susan. After working several years for the "Boots" Broecker Construction Co., he went into the general construction business with Walter Thielemann as his partner. In 1956, he founded the Odell Lueckemeyer Construction Company, which evolved to the Lueckemeyer Construction, Inc. He retired in October, 2001. A member of St. Paul''s Evangelical Lutheran Church, he served on the Property Committee for many years, was a Church Council member for several terms and served on the usher teams. A director of the Brenham Maifest Association more than 30 years, he was inducted into the Maifest Hall of Fame in 1986. For over 50 years, he was instrumental in constructing and staging the Maifest Coronation backdrop and scenery. He was a Brenham Industrial Board member for 18 years where he served as secretary for several years. He was a Brenham National Bank Director from about 1982 to 2011. An avid golfer, Mr. Lueckemeyer served on the Board of Directors of the Brenham Country Club. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Willie Mae Lueckemeyer of Brenham; daughter, Susan Lueckemeyer of Houston; sister, Lillian Henske of Brenham; and sister-in-law, Mrs. T.W. Evelyn Lueckemeyer of Brenham; and numerous nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, John David Lueckemeyer in 1982; his parents; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Ed. J. and Irene Lueckemeyer, Franklin and Ilene Lueckemeyer and T.W. "Woodrow" Lueckemeyer; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Lula and "Boots" Broecker and Dorephy and Ed. Blume; brother-in-law, Melvin Henske; two nephews; and one niece. The family is grateful for the excellent care given by Brenham Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Janet, Anne and Nancy. Honorary pallbearers are his nephews, Buddy and Nadine Muske, Otto and Doris Wehring, Lonnie and Dorothy Addicks, Barney Meyer, Gary Schulze and all former employees of Lueckemeyer Construction, Inc., officers and directors of Brenham National Bank and his friends from Brenham Fitness Center. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Paul''s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Brenham, the Blinn College Foundation, or Hospice Brazos Valley-Brenham.
