Oleis Marion Heineke Arlitt, 81, of Brenham, died May 10, 2005, at her residence. Mrs. Arlitt was born Oct. 5, 1923, in Brenham, to Gustav and Ruby Laas Heineke. She was baptized and confirmed in St. Paul s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brenham. Mrs. Arlitt attended Blinn College and earned a BBA from the University of Texas in Austin. On May 31, 1947, she was married to Jack Walter Arlitt in St. Paul s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brenham. She was a homemaker. For 40 years she lived in Houston and was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church, where she was a member of the church circle and catered wedding receptions. She was a Girl Scout leader for 10 years and also volunteered in hospitals, in her children s school activities and with the Houston Braille Workers. Mrs. Arlitt also loved playing bridge, fishing, traveling, flowers and landscaping and bird watching. During her 21 years in Brenham, she was a member of St. Paul s Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she was a member of the church circle. She served as secretary of the Nancy Carol Roberts Memorial Library board and was on the board of directors of Washington County State Bank. For almost 21 years, she was a member of the Home Life Department of Fortnightly Club. Survivors include the love of her life and best friend of almost 58 years, Jack Walter Arlitt of Brenham; two daughters and a son-in-law, Cindy and John Buford of Austin and Cherry Craven of Magnolia; one granddaughter, Kelly Buford of Austin and one grandson, Kevin Buford of Austin. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Gustav and Ruby Laas Heineke. The family will receive visitors from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 11 in Memorial Oaks Chapel. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 12 in St. Paul s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brenham with Pastor Kim Little-Brooks officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham. Pallbearers will be Kevin Buford, Ken Schwenke, Paul Kruse, David Kahle, Wade Seidel, Hal Moorman, Ken Korthauer, Don Voelter and Bobby Schroeder. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Paul s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brenham or the charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., in Brenham.
