Ora Nell Warmke, 92, of Brenham, the widow of Wilfred Lee Warmke, died March 25, 2010. Mrs. Warmke was born January 4, 1918 in Burton, Texas to Ernest Don "Arnie" and Emma Eugene Derrick Knittel. She was baptized at Bauer''s Falls in Burton. She married Wilfred Lee Warmke in July 1936. He preceded her in death August 22, 1985. Mrs. Warmke was co-owner of Brenham Butane Gas Co., where she served as bookkeeper. She was also a homemaker, and attended First Christian Church in Burton. Ora Nell had a "green thumb", and worked tirelessly in her garden and flower beds. She truly enjoyed her family. She never missed listening to the radio broadcasts of her grandchildren''s sporting events. Playing dominoes was also a favorite pastime. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Terrence and Elaine Warmke; sister, Annie Maude Knittel Avis; grandchildren, Kimberly and David Wellmann and Lance and Amy Warmke; great-grandchildren, Matthew Wellmann, Blake Wellmann, Cade Warmke and Reese Warmke; and nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, sisters and brothers-in-law Lola Gene and Lawrence Eberhardt, and Margie and Leon Giesenschlag; brother and sister-in-law, Arnie Franklin and LaVerne Knittel, and brother-in-law, Roy Avis. Funeral services for Ora Nell Warmke will be held Saturday, March 27, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel, with Pastor Larry Embrey officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery. The family will receive family and friends Friday evening from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Serving as pallbearers are Lance Warmke, David Wellmann, Tommy Avis, Lawrence Eberhardt, Jr., Jimmy Eberhardt, Rocky Knittel, Quirt Knittel, Scott Schroeder, Tim Foehner, and Steve Avis. Her great-grandchildren will be honorary pallbearers. Memorials may be directed to Hospice Brazos Valley or a favorite charity.
