Oscar E. "Buddy" Rozell, Jr., 79, passed away on May 11, 2012 at his home in Brenham. Buddy was born December 19, 1932 in New Gulf, Texas to Oscar and Pearl Rozell. He later graduated from Pearland High School and served in the United States Army in the Panama Canal Zone from 1953-1955. Buddy is preceded in death by his sister Rita Phenix, brother Orville B. Rozell, and sons Ronald Rozell and Mike Rozell. Buddy is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Janet; his sister Billie Ann Hollier; daughters Rhonda Rozell and Toni Ruiz; granddaughters Jade Ruiz, Justine Ruiz Smith and husband Ryan, and Chelsea Ruiz Clements and husband Zach; and great-granddaughter Sloan Smith. Buddy will be remembered with much love and respect for his great sense of humor and his passion for music. He was a wonderful guitarist and singer. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Brenham. He was also a dedicated, untiring volunteer for the Bread Partners organization in Brenham, and contributed his time and talents to other charities such as Habitat for Humanity. He will be honored at a memorial service on Saturday, June 9, 2012 at 11:00AM at Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main Street, Brenham, Texas. Preceding the service, the family will receive visitors from 10:00-11:00AM at Memorial Oaks. Following the service, a reception for family and close friends will be held at Holiday Inn Express at Hwy 290 South and Hwy 36 in Brenham. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Bread Partners, Habitat for Humanity or a charity of your choice.
