Otto Alfred Bergmann, 88, a life-long resident of the Burton area, died July 31, 2006, in Trinity Care Center in Brenham. Mr. Bergmann was born March 15, 1918, in Warrenton, Fayette County, Texas, to Otto and Frieda Spies Bergmann. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. On Jan. 6, 1940, he was married to Erna Knebel. Mr. Bergmann was a member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church, where he served on the council and other committees and was a member of the Brotherhood. Mr. Bergmann was also a member and officer of Farm Bureau. He was a farmer. Survivors include his wife Erna Bergmann; one son and daughter-in-law, Fred H. and Verna M. Bergmann of Carmine; one daughter and son-in-law, Carol Jean and Henry S. Hall of Burton; five grandchildren, Matthew Bergmann and wife Melinda, Lisle Meador and husband Dustin, Sheila Muske and husband Bruce, Damon Hall and wife Marisol and Dana Beck and husband Randy; five great-grandchildren, Hannah and Andrew Bergmann, Abigail Meador and Mandy and Brandon Muske; one brother, Harold Bergmann of Warrenton; and sister-in-law, Sadie Bergmann of La Grange. He was preceded in death by one brother, Delfine Bergmann; brother-in-law, Erhart Schmidt; and sisters-in-law, Nora Knebel, Lillian Knebel and Estella Knebel Schmidt. The family will receive visitors from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 3 at Foehner Funeral Home in Burton. The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, Aug. 4 in Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Carmine with Pastor Paul Bohot officiating. Burial will be in La Bahia Cemetery, near Burton. Memorials may be given to Martin Luther Lutheran Church of Carmine or La Bahia Cemetery.
