Pastor Gregory Wayne Felder, 56, of Burton and Washington, TX went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 24, 2017 at his home in Washington.

Greg was born April 23, 1961 in Brenham, TX to Ray W. and Peggy A. (Muehlbrad) Felder. He was baptized on June 18, 1961 at St. John’s UCC by Rev. Jewel Johnson and confirmed on May 18, 1975 at St. John’s UCC by Rev. Paul Otte. He attended public schools in Burton, Texas and received a BA in Hotel and Restaurant Mgmt at University of Houston. He worked at the Coachlight Inn in Brenham, TX, and as Food Service Mgr at Burton ISD and Camp For All. In 2001, Greg was designated as a Licensed Minister with the United Church of Christ, Heart of Texas Assoc. In 2003 he began his employment at St. John’s UCC in Burton as Assoc Pastor and Youth Minister. In 2012 he was called to be the Senior Pastor at Friedens UCC in Washington, TX. Greg has served as: Board Member and Treasurer with Burton Cotton Gin Assoc.; Board Member for the Texas Cotton Gin Museum; group leader with the Brazos Valley Emmaus Community; member of Men’s Fellowship in both Burton and Washington UCC churches; and member of the Committee on Ministry for the Heart of Texas Assoc, UCC.

Greg was admired and loved by all who knew him. He was a thoughtful and caring person with a great sense of humor. His faith in the Lord was strong and he was a superb example of how to live a life dedicated to serving God. He loved cooking and baking, growing flowers, American history, Star Wars memorabilia, anything to do with the Titanic, books, and collecting rocks and crystals.

Greg Felder was preceded in death by: grandparents, Theo and Lena Felder and August and Lillie Muehlbrad; Uncle Edsel Muehlbrad; and Aunt Jane Felder.

Survivors include: parents Ray & Peggy Felder of Burton; brother Karl Felder of Keller, TX; sister Ann (Quirt) Knittel of Burton; Uncle Nelson Felder; Aunt Doris Muehlbrad; nephews Shawn (Daphne) Ware, Bryan (Samantha) Ware; nieces Sydnie Knittel and Fawn Knittel; great nieces and nephews, Indigo, Nova and Fox Ware, Connor Knittel, and Colton Black.

The family will receive visitors on Friday, September 29, 2017 from 6-8 pm at Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., Brenham, TX. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 10:00 am at Friedens UCC, Washington, TX AND at 3:00 pm the same day at St. John’s UCC in Burton, TX. Officiating will be Rev. Glen Schoeneberg and Rev. Charles Stark. Graveside services will follow immediately after the Burton service at Oak Hill Cemetery in Burton. At Friedens UCC pallbearers will be Dale Borgstedte, Russell Borgstedte, Charlie Canatella, T. J. Marek, Steven (Tex) Maxson, Elroy Stolz, John Walkoviak, and Ron Werchan. Honorary pallbearers will be Linda Oberoff, Sally Stolz, Debbie Wellmann, and Lindsay Young. At St. John’s UCC pallbearers will be Shawn Ware, Bryan Ware, Sydnie Knittel, Fawn Knittel, Scott Muehlbrad, Brett Muehlbrad, Todd Felder, Tara Felder, and Tyson Felder. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve and Cynthia Miller, and Beverly Houston. Memorials may be made to Friedens UCC, Washington, TX , St. John’s UCC, Burton, TX or Texas Cotton Gin Museum. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., Brenham, TX 77833.
