Patricia Barnett Sidwell
1955 - 2021
Patricia Barnett Sidwell saddled up for her last round up on January 12, 2021. Always a fighter and never a quitter, the complications from a stroke were too much for this cowgirl. Born in Houston on April 15, 1955, Patti was the eldest daughter of Bruce Ellsworth Barnett and Ann Poyner Barnett. Patti grew up in Houston, graduating from Briargrove Elementary, T.H. Rogers Junior High School, and Robert E. Lee High School, Class of 1973. Patti graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a degree in education and was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. Professionally, Patti joined her father as a partner in the family building business, Barnett Custom Homes. Upon retiring to her beloved family farm in Brenham, Patti embarked on another career, owing and managing Two Creek Feed & Farm and Two Creek Cattle Co. An avid outdoorswoman, Patti loved riding her horses, breeding and showing cattle, and working on projects of every kind at the farm. Always authentic and honest, Patti was a delight to be around, especially when she was laughing. One of her rare gifts was in her ability to value people, regardless of position or stature. She always gave better than she got and never missed a chance to help someone in need. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, John T. Malone. She is survived by her husband, William A. Sidwell, III (Bill); sister Bette Barnett Malone; nephew Justin McLeod Malone; niece Kendal Malone Rogers and husband, Scott; brothers-in-law Peter L. Sidwell and Alan P. Sidwell; sister Natalie Sidwell Diller and brother-in-law Jeff Diller. Those who knew and loved Patti also know how much she loved her “children” the 4-legged ones…Gracie, Patches, Gunner and ChaChi. And of course, Murray.
Patti will be buried at the place she loved most…her farm in Brenham. A private burial will be held first, followed by a virtual Zoom Funeral for all to “attend.” Please check https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/pattibarnettsidwell for updates. Memorial Contributions can be made to True Blue Animal Rescue, Washington County 4-H and Washington County Animal Rescue.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main Street, Brenham, TX 77833.
