Paul Penkert

Paul Charles Penkert of Brenham, 102, widower of Erva Ida Oelschlegel Penkert, passed away May 30, 2008, at Trinity Care Center. Mr. Penkert was born February 2, 1906 in Greenvine Community, Washington County, Texas to Gus and Louise Hodde Penkert. He was baptized in March 1906 and confirmed in 1921 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine, and was educated in Greenvine schools. On December 20, 1936, he married Erva Ida Oelschlegel. Mr. Penkert was a life-long member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine. He was a farmer and rancher and enjoyed taking care of his cattle. He took great pleasure in spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include his sons and daughter-in-law Harry and Patti Penkert of Burton, Harvey Penkert of Brenham; daughter Jo Ann Beckermann of Brenham; son-in-law Alton Moellering of Fredricksburg, Texas; sister Lillie Muehlbrad of Burton, and sister-in-laws Erna Thornton of El Dorado, Arkansas and Patsy Oelschlegel of Port Lavocia, Texas and Pat Oelschlegel Harris of Houston; grandchildren Lloyd and Shirley Beckermann, Roy Beckermann, Julie and Troy Weidemann, Doyle and Stacey Moellering and Dale and Joanne Moellering; great-grandchildren Bart, Darin, Erica Beckermann; Katherena and Kelsey Beckermann; Karlie and Rowdy Weidemann; Paul, Mark, Seth, and Luke Moellering; Emma and Daniel Cruttenden; and Adam and Anna Moellering; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Penkert was preceded in death by his parents, wife Erva Penkert; daughter Joylene Moellering; son-in-law Dennis Beckermann; brothers and sisters-in-law Willie and Lona Penkert, Otto and Elfie Penkert , Gus Penkert, Ed and Velma Penkert; sister and brothers-in-law Thekla and Olvin Oelschlegel; Earl Oelschlegel and Ronnie Oelschlegel. Funeral services for Paul Charles Penkert will be held Monday, June 2, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine, with Rev. Rich Nelson, officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham. Visitation with family and friends will take place from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, June 1 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Serving as pallbearers are Lloyd Beckermann, Roy Beckermann, Troy Weidemann, Doyle Moellering, Dale Moellering, Darin Beckermann, and Ronnie Schulte. Memorial contributions should be directed to Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main, Brenham, Texas.
