Philip D. Schulte, husband of Verline Kunkel Schulte, died August 8, 2010 in Kruse Memorial Lutheran Village. Mr.Schulte was born to Eddie and Mary Engelmohr Schulte on July 2, 1929 in Greenvine, Texas. He married Verline Kunkel on May 5, 1990 in Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Carmine. Philip served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. An employee of Carnation Milk Co., he delivered milk to area homes for many years. In later years, he greeted customers at the front door of the local Walmart. A member of Calvary Baptist Church, he was also a member of the American Legion and VFW. Survivors include his wife, Verline Schulte of Brenham; stepsons and daughter-in-law Ronald and Becky Kunkel of Warrenton; Randy and Gail Kunkel of California, and son Larry Kunkel of Carmine; six step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law Edward and Ruth Schulte of Brenham; sisters Mary Gall of Granite Shoals, and Dorothy Bentke of Caldwell, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers-in-law. Funeral services for Philip D. Schulte will be held Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church will Bob Craig officiating. Burial will take place at 1:00 p.m. in the La Bahia Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives Monday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Memorials may be directed to Hospice Brazos Valley or to Calvary Baptist Church.
