Phillip Middlebrooks

Phillip Carey Middlebrooks, 70, of Chappell Hill, Texas, died June 26, 2006, in Gazebo Terrace Convalescent Center in Brenham. Mr. Middlebrooks was born Oct. 13, 1935, in La Grange, Georgia, to William Carey and Nina Mae Glover Middlebrooks. He graduated from La Grange High School in Georgia and received his bachelor of science degree from the University of Georgia. He also served in the U.S. Navy. On Dec. 26, 1961, he married Mary Tom Williams in Austin. He was formerly employed in marketing propane and butane and later retired from the Chappell Hill Bank. Mr. Middlebrooks was a member of Chappell Hill Historical Society and the University of Georgia Student Association and served on the Masonic Cemetery Association. Survivors include his wife, Mary Tom Middlebrooks of Chappell Hill; his son, Phillip C. Middlebrooks, Jr. of Chappell Hill; his daughter and son-in-law, Carey Ann and Lee Oden of Houston; and four grandchildren, Madison, Reid, Brooks and Emily Oden. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 28 in Memorial Oaks Chapel. The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 29 at the Chappell Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. Kathy Harrell officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery in Chappell Hill. Memorials may be given to Chappell Hill Historic Society Memorial Endowment. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., in Brenham.
