R. Lee Landua, 86, of Brenham, died August 31, 2003, in Brenham. Mr. Landua was born May 21, 1917, in Rehburg, TX, to Paul and Olivia Broesche Landua. He was baptized July 8, 1917 in St. Paul Lutheran Church in Rehburg and was confirmed in the same church. He was educated in the Charlesville schools. On Nov. 10, 1940, he married Bernadine Bode in Eben-Ezer Lutheran Church in Berlin. For many years, Mr. Landua worked for Brenham, El Campo and Hockley Livestock Auctions. He was a retired farmer and rancher and enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports, fox hunting and being outdoors. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, James and Kay Landua of Brenham; his daughter and son-in-law, Lois and Randy Klussmann of Brenham; 10 grandchildren, Robin, Jennifer and James Landua Jr. of Brenham, Kaci Murphy and husband James of Bryan, Kate and Cole Klussmann of Brenham, Kelly Grimm and husband Jeff of Brenham, Angela Landua of Houston, Shannon Bullin and husband, Keith of Bryan and Matt Lampe and wife Michelle of Brenham; sisters and brother-in-law, Ruby and Melvin Kelm of Brenham and Edna Kelm of Long Point; brother-in-law, Billy Bode of El Campo; sisters-in-law, Adeline Landua of Burton, Ora Nell Jones of La Porte and Joyce Grimm of Pasadena; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Olivia Landua; his wife, Bernadine Bode Landua, on Jan. 28, 1985; son, Jerry Lee Landua; brother, Lespa Landua; and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3 in Eben-Ezer Lutheran Church of Berlin with Pastor Teresa Davis officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham. Pallbearers will be Dennis Landua, Gene Kelm, Thomas Kelm, Donnie Broesche, Michael Bode, Dale Bode, Berry Lee Malkey and Marcus Broesche. Honorary pallbearers will be his friends at Luedemann Grocery and Mill, Santa Fe, Westside Grocery, Norman Izard, Jay Wark and Edward Fuelberg. Memorials may be given to Eben-Ezer Lutheran Church Building Fund, 356 South Berlin Rd., Brenham, TX 77833. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., in Brenham.
