Raymond Edmund Drews, 84, passed away April 14, 2013 at his residence. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 16, 2013 from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. No service is planned at this time. Raymond was born Sept. 7, 1928 in the Longpoint Community of Washington Co. to Edmund and Lorina Roehling Drews. He was baptized in 1928 at Zion Lutheran Church and confirmed there in 1941. After attending the Hoddeville School, he attended Blinn College. A veteran of the Korean War, he served with the 2nd Division of the U. S. Army, stationed in Germany from 1950-1952. On March 13, 1970, he married DeLois Jordan in Giddings. Raymond was employed as a licensed electrician from 1954 until 1997, and then worked as a greeter at Walmart from 1996 until his death. Memberships included the VFW and Sons of Herman. His passions in life were his family, deer hunting, cooking, and traveling. Raymond''s love for life and all the people around him endeared him to his family and friends. His kindness and generosity toward others will make his presence greatly missed by all who knew him. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Claudia and Mark Appelt of Brenham; grandchildren Derek Raymond Krause and fiancé, Emilee Cooper, as well as numerous cousins and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his wife, DeLois Inez Drews, his parents, Ed and Lorina Drews, and a son-in-law, Dale Krause. Memorials may be directed to Hospice Brazos Valley7, 302 E.
