Raymond Glaesmann

Raymond Glaesmann, 85, of Brenham, died Oct. 20, 2004, at Trinity Medical Center in Brenham. Mr. Glaesmann was born Feb. 8, 1919, in the Long Point community of Washington County to Paul and Alvina Herzog Glaesmann. He was baptized in Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville and was confirmed in 1934 in the same church. He was educated in Long Point School. On Oct. 19, 1944, he was married to LaVerne Quebe in St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill by the Rev. P. Gogolin. Mr. Glaesmann was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Zionsville. He started work at the age of 16. He worked full time as an automobile mechanic, being employed by Henry Lehmann, Robbie Barnes, Roy Stolz and Roger Paxton, until he retired at the age of 62. Then he worked part time until 1982. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, playing cards and dominoes and watching the Houston Astros. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Barnay and Connie Glaesmann of Brenham; grandchildren, Kelly Antkowiak and husband James, and Jenna Dismukes; sister and brother-in-law, Leola and Albert Lueck of Brenham; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Wilfred and Selma Quebe of Katy. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, LaVerne Glaesmann; an infant sister; sisters-in-law, Susie Fischer, Esther Quebe and Alice Hardin; and brothers-in-law, Ben Hardin, Calvin Quebe and Billy Fischer. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 23 in Zion Lutheran Church in Zionsville with Pastor David Hall officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22 in Memorial Oaks Chapel. Pallbearers will be Burney Schramme, Lee Koehler, James Antkowiak, Roy Fischer, Edward Scheffer and Melvin Kelm. Memorials may be given to Zion Lutheran Church in Zionsville or Hospice Brenham. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., in Brenham. 979-836-4564.
