Raymond Schultz

Raymond Steve Schultz, 69, of Brenham, the husband of Shirley A. Schultz, died March 17, 2013 at Scott and White Hospital in Brenham. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Thursday, March 21, 2013, at Christ Lutheran Church, with Pastor Mark Grove officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives Wednesday evening from 5 until 7 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Raymond was born March 8, 1944 in Brenham to Raymond John and Odell Wessinger Schultz. He attended St. Mary''s Catholic School, and graduated from Brenham High School in 1962. On Nov. 30, 1968, he was married to Shirley Kalkhake at St. Paul''s Lutheran Church of Shelby. Raymond retired from the City of Brenham in 2007. A member of Christ Lutheran Church, he played on the church baseball and volleyball teams. Hunting and attending car races were favorite pastimes, and he participated in the Salt Grass Trail Rides in years past. Raymond loved his family, and treasured time spent with them. His beloved dog, Fred, was a constant companion. Survivors include his wife, Shirley; sons and daughters-in-law Shane and Kimberly Schultz of Houston, and Shawn and Abbey Schultz of Nacogdoches; grandchildren Kasi Alexis Schultz, Sydney Alise Schultz, Avery Alexa Schultz, and Aiden Ray Schultz; sister and brother-in-law Betty and Delphine Randermann of Canyon Lake, Carolyn and James Grimm of Brenham, and Mary and Wallace Johnson of Bryan; brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Kathy Schultz of Bryan, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Preceding him in death were his parents, and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ora Nell and Herman Kalkhake. Serving as pallbearers are Jimmie Loesch, Monte Warmke, Chad Warmke, Karl Goessler, Johnnie Randermann, and Bo Noerenberg. Memorials may be directed to Christ Lutheran Church, Hospice Brazos Valley, or to the Brenham Animal Shelter.
