Raymond Winkelmann

Raymond W. Winkelmann, 88, of Brenham, died April 17, 2007 at Trinity Medical Center. Mr. Winkelmann was born December 15, 1918 to Henry C. and Minnie Kettler Winkelmann. He was baptized February 9, 1919 in Zion Lutheran Church, and confirmed March 29, 1934, also at Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville. He was educated at the Harrisburg School. Mr. Winkelmann was a painting contractor, and was retired. He was married to Flora Ising, who preceded him in death. Irene Schroeder Garland, whom he later married, also preceded him in death. Mr. Winkelmann was a member of Christ Lutheran Church. A favorite pastime was playing pitch and dominoes. He was a very gentle and kind man who loved gardening. Survivors include his wife, Gladys Pilgrim Winkelmann; sons and daughters-in-law, Walter and Diane Winkelmann of New Braunfels; Alan Buz and Sherry Steele of Brenham; daughters Catherine Jackson of Austin, and Nancy Foster of Corpus Christi; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Elvera Winkelmann of Brenham; Ewald and Bobbie Ising of Brenham, and Ray West of Austin; grandchildren: Lori and Jerod Roland, Major Charles and Shannon Kelm; MM2 SS Marcus Steele, and Nathan Steele, and three great-grandchildren: Trenton Roland, Brett Roland, and Koen Kelm. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wives, a brother Leroy Winkelmann, a granddaughter, Wendy Winkelmann, and a great granddaughter, Kayla Roland. Serving as pallbearers are Billy Ray Winkelmann, Alan Winkelmann, Wayne Winkelmann, Gerald Krause, Alan Steele, and Kenneth Korthauer. The funeral for Raymond W. Winkelmann will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 20, 2007 at Christ Lutheran Church in Brenham. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery at Zionsville. Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 19, 2007. Memorials may be given to Christ Lutheran Church, 1104 Carlee Drive, Brenham, Tx. 77833.
