Richard Bage

September 7, 1925 — January 15, 2006

Richard Edward Bage, 80, of Brenham, died Jan. 15, 2006, at Trinity Medical Center in Brenham. Mr. Bage was born Sept. 7, 1925, in Dime Box, Texas, to Edward and Minnie Kuehn Bage. He was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith in Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Giddings. Mr. Bage proudly served his country during World War II and received the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon with one Bronze Star, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Meritorious Unit Award Victory Ribbon and two Overseas Service Bars. On Sept. 20, 1947, he married Evelyn Schmidt and had one son after more than 13 years of marriage. Mr. Bage was self-employed as a painter for most of his working years and also was well-known for his wallpapering skills, in which he took much pride. He was a member of St. Paul s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brenham. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Bage, on March 16, 2000; his parents; his brothers, Henry, Milton and Edmond; and his sister, Allyne Blasig. Survivors include his son, Wayde Bage and wife Linda of Brenham; two sisters-in-law, Carolyn Bennetsen of La Grange and Anita Pirovitz of Austin; one brother-in-law, Milton Blasig and wife Dorothy of Paige; and many nephews, great-nephews and great-nieces. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18 at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham with Pastor Lawrence Bade officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Radio Ministry at St. Paul s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Brenham. Pallbearers will be his nephews: Mark Bage, Greg Bage, Brian Bage, Garry Blasig, Dennis Blasig and Ronnie Blasig. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., in Brenham.
