Richard William Ekstrom, 71, of Burton, died Dec. 30, 2005, in Trinity Care Center in Brenham. Mr. Ekstrom was born April 12, 1934, in Prentice, Wisconsin, to Theodore Alfred and Esther Violet Matson Ekstrom. He was baptized Sept. 21, 1934, in First Lutheran Church in Prentice, Wisconsin. He received his education at San Jacinto College and served in the Army. Mr. Ekstrom was a member of St. John s United Church of Christ in Burton, the American Legion, Elks Lodge BPOE 979, Lions Clubs and was on the board of Farm Bureau. He was a bricklayer and contractor. Survivors include three daughters, Karen Ekstrom Tappe and husband Robert Tappe of Burton, Kay Ekstrom Larson and husband Scott Larson of Brenham and Kim Ekstrom Kaase of Brenham; six grandchildren, Kirby Tappe, Kolbie Tappe, Karina Engeling, Krista Engeling, Garrett Larson and Kyler Kaase; three brothers, L.T. Ekstrom of Clear Lake, James Ekstrom of Houston, Jerry Ekstrom of Pennsylvania; sister, Bonnie Dauzat of Louisiana; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Esther Violet and Theodore Alfred Ekstrom; and brother, Donald Alfred Ekstrom. The family will receive visitors from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 1 at Foehner Funeral Home in Burton. The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, Jan. 2 in St. John s United Church of Christ in Burton with Glen Schoeneberg officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Foehner Funeral Home in Burton.
