Richard Robertson

Richard Lewis Robertson, 87, husband of Carolyn (Bell) Robertson, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 13, 2016.

A Memorial Service is planned for 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at Brenham's First Baptist Church.

Richard Lewis Robertson was born Jan. 7, 1929 in Spokane, Washington to Clarence Elias Robertson and Gertrude Peterson Robertson.

Richard was a graduate of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho High School, attended Vanderbilt University in Nashville, and received a B.A. from the University of Texas in 1963.

Richard served in the Idaho State Guard from 1944 until 1945, and in the United States Marine Corps, Fleet Marine Force, Pacific, Kwajelein, Marshall Islands and in Guam, Saipan in the Marianas Islands.

He was employed for ten years by the Milwaukee Railroad as a locomotive fireman in the NW United States, and later by Eastern Airlines and by Continental Airlines from 1961 until 2002.

Richard married Carolyn Bell in Houston on November 27, 1959, and they made their home there for over 41 years, moving to Brenham in 1999. He was active in River Oaks Baptist Church for 42 years in Houston. There he served as deacon and as chairman of deacons. He was also a member of the Worship Choir.

Richard served in the Gideons, the Marine Corps League, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). Richard and Carolyn made many mission trips to Honduras, Peru, Chile, Guatemala, Mexico, India, Kenya, Senegal, and the Czech Republic.

A member of Brenham's First Baptist church, he was also a member of the Covenant Keepers Sunday School Class, the Senior Adult Encore, and the Adult Worship Choir.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; brother, Alan Robertson and wife Marilyn of Sandpoint, Idaho; daughter Rosa Moscoso of Houston; granddaughters Noelle Kelly and Rochelle Tucker; great-granddaughters Julianne Kelly, Kathleen Kelly, Natalie Kelly; great-grandson, Matthias Tucker as well as a niece, Tamara Robertson, and a nephew, Mark Robertson, as well as many other family members and friends.

Memorials may be directed to the Development Fund of Brenham's First Baptist Church.
