Richard “Ricky” Alan Meinholdt, 54, passed away on October 5, 2022 after a long 14 year battle with melanoma cancer. A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 9, 2022 with the family present from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 10, 2022 at Waldeck Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6915 Waldeck Church Lane, Ledbetter, Tx 78946. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Ricky was born on September 30, 1968 to Clarence and Elizabeth (Borchgardt) Meinholdt in Brenham, TX. He was baptized on November 24, 1968 and confirmed on March 27, 1983, married Kelli Vavra on June, 22, 1991 all at Salem Lutheran Church in Brenham, TX.
He was a wonderful big brother to his sister Lori, a member of Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Washington County Little League and Waldeck Evangelical Lutheran Church. He loved his childhood neighborhood friends, Delise, Scott and Ronnie. He was a part of FFA /AG Coop while in high school. He started working at Blue Bell part time in 1985 and became a full-time employee in 1987 following his graduation from Brenham High School.
Ricky and Kelli welcomed their daughters, Faith in 1996 and Emily in 1998. In 1999 they moved out to the family farm. While at Blue Bell Ricky took a part time job at B&W food market in Giddings where he enjoyed working in the meat market. Then in 2015 during a pause at Blue Bell he returned to meat cutting, but this time at Round Top Mercantile until Blue Bell became busier once again.
Ricky’s joys were his family, the family farm, Led Zepplin, his old truck (ole Kathy), all things Camaro, The Dallas Cowboys, Jeff Gordon and John Deere tractors.
Ricky was preceded in death by his grandparents Edwin & Esther Meinholdt, Robert Sr & Lizzie Borchgardt, special great uncle Walter Meinholdt, special great aunt Hertha Meinholdt and best dog Roxie.
Ricky is survived by wife Kelli, daughter, Faith; daughter and son-in-law, Emily and Justin Vincent, precious granddaughter Emery. Parents Clarence & Elizabeth Meinholdt; sister and brother-in-law, Lori and Kevin Dernehl; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Donna and Nick Fajkus, Carie and Curtis Oltmann, Cheri and Stephen Todee. Father-in-law, Albert Vavra and Mother-in-law, Roslie Johnson. Nieces and nephews, Lindsay and Dustin Namken, Hunter Dernehl, Cole and Jade Fajkus, Kaleb, Kassi and Kalisa Oltmann, and Shayla Todee. Uncle and aunt, Robert Jr. and Marilyn Borchgardt.
Pallbearers – Hunter Dernehl, Kevin Dernehl, Stephen Loesch, Dustin Namken, Curtis Oltmann and Stephen Todee.
Honorary Pallbearers – Lindsay Namken, Cole & Jade Fajkus, Kaleb, Kassi & Kalisa Oltmann, Shayla Todee, Mark and Shirley Alford and all employees of Blue Bell Creameries.
Ricky and the family would like to thank all of his caregivers with extend special thanks to Sarah Weisuhn, Hope Phoenix, Virginia Raley and all the Doctors and nursing staff at St. Mark’s Medical Center in La Grange, Tx. and Hospice Brazos Valley of LaGrange.
