Robert Doehring

Robert BobLouis Doehring, 62, of Brenham, husband of Janice Marburger Doehring, passed away October 1, 2008 in the Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Hospital in Houston, losing a courageous battle to cancer. Mr. Doehring was born November 9, 1945 in Shiner, Texas to Willie and Bessie Rebecek Doehring. He was educated in the Shiner and Flatonia schools. On November 19, 1966, he married Janice Marburger in Cistern Catholic Church. Robert was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in Viet Nam in 1969. Mr. Doehring was retired from Blue Bell Creameries. He was a member of Lake Loon Motor Cycle Club, the H.O.G. Harley Owners Group, and V.F.W. Post 5254 of La Grange. Bob''s hobbies included riding his Harley Davidson motorcycles, attending classic car shows, and collecting guns. His greatest joy, however, was spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Janice Doehring of Brenham; mother, Bessie Silba of Moulton; daughters and sons-in-law Sheila and Charles Hagemann of Brenham; Candace and Billy Killen of Bellville; grandchildren: Ashlea, Dillon, and Devyn Hagemann, and Kaylea and Kolby Killen; brother and sister-in-law George and Donella Doehring; sister and brother-in-law Ida and Rene Jimenez; brother-in-law Gilbert Marburger ; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Delora and Donald Wagner, Pauline and Victor Klekar, and Shirley and Adolph Ryza, a sister-in-law, Connie Holder, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Willie Doehring, and step-father Tony Silba. Funeral services for Robert Louis Doehring will be held Saturday, October 4, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. in Salem Lutheran Church, with Pastor Charles Parnell and Pastor Lydia Paterson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive family and friends from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. Friday evening at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Pallbearers will be Rene Jimenez, John Stayton, Victor Klekar, Charles Bell, Tracy Lehde, and Don Moore. All friends from Robert''s Service Station and K&M Grocery will be considered honorary pallbearers. Memorial contributions may be directed to Salem Lutheran Church or to the American Cancer Society.
