Robert W. Holtkamp, 79, of Brenham, died Saturday, July 28, 2007 in Trinity Medical Center. Mr. Holtkamp was born January 31, 1928 in White Hall, Grimes County to Charles and Lena Finke Holtkamp. He was baptized in Salem Lutheran Church of White Hall, and confirmed in Bethlehem Lutheran Church of William Penn by the Rev. C. J. Appel. He was educated in the Independence and Willian Penn area schools. On December 18, 1949, he married Leona Oberrender in Salem Lutheran Church of Welcome. She preceded him in death on May 27, 2005. Mr. Holtkamp was retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Co., retiring after 38 years of service as a repair technician. He was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church of Welcome, as well as of the Telephone Pioneers Club. Survivors include a son Charles Holtkamp and a daughter Kathy Holtkamp, both of Brenham; grandchildren: Jennifer Harris and husband David of College Station; Heather Holtkamp of Washington, D.C.; Matthew Holtkamp and Kayce of Bellville; and great-grandchildren Ashley Harris and Benjamin Holtkamp; brother and sister-in-law Alvin Doc and Allene Holtkamp and a sister and brother-in-law, Lena Mae and Hilbert Goessler, all of Brenham; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law: G. B. and Dolores Oberrender of Brenham, and Betty Holtkamp Ries of Somerville. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; brothers Arnold Cotton and Willlie Pete Holtkamp; sisters-in-law Laura Hinze Holtkakmp and Grace Holtkamp; niece and nephew Geneva and Albert Sonny Ehlert Funeral services for Robert W. Holtkamp will be held Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. in Salem Lutheran Church of Welcome, with Pastor Jason Korthauer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held at Memorial Oaks Chapel on Monday, July 30 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Serving as pallbearers are Matthew Holtkamp, David Harris, David Oberrender, Carl Oberrender, Ernest Oberrender, Richard Miller, Jr., Don Holtkamp, Gary Goessler, Kevin Goessler, Karl Goessler, Robert R. Loesch, Wayne Ehlert, and Gregg Appel. Memorials may be given to Salem Lutheran Church of Welcome. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main, Brenham.
