Robert Marvel, Sr.

Robert Joseph Marvel, Sr., 87, husband of Ava Lou Tillman Marvel, died May 15, 2016 in Brenham.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Fellowship Baptist Church, with Pastor Darren Donaldson officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Wednesday evening at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

Robert Joseph Marvel was born Sept. 23, 1928 in Holmdel, N.J. to John and Helen Hylin Marvel. On October 11, 1952, he married Ava Lou Tillman in Houston.

After completing his education in New Jersey, he served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Mr. Marvel was employed by Jersey Central Power and Light for 42 years.

He joined Fellowship Baptist Church, and was baptized by Brother Mike Habermehl.

Survivors include his wife, Ava Lou Marvel of Brenham; son and daughter-in-law Robert J. Jr. and Mary Marvel of Plano; daughter and son-in-law Debra and James Bostic of Austin; and one grandson, Christopher Bostic.

Serving as pallbearers are Christopher Bostic, Michael LeBleu, Doug Ratchford, Adam Nuti, Ed Schulte, and James Parker.

Memorials may be directed to Fellowship Baptist Church of Brenham.
