Robert Murski

April 25, 1940 — August 7, 2020

Robert Theodore Murski, 80, of Brenham passed to eternal life on August 7th, 2020. Born April 25, 1940 to Stephan and Angela (Kenjura) Murski, Robert spent his early years in a one bedroom farmhouse on the Murski Homestead. There began his love for the great outdoors. This love continued his entire life and led him to develop countless friendships, fishing every body of water he could find, hunting squirrels, and calling up coveys of quail or dove with his beloved bird dogs. A founding member of the Brenham Big Bass Club, he frequently fished tournaments at lakes across the state for many, many years.

A devout Catholic, he attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church his entire life and received the sacraments of Baptism, Holy Communion and Confirmation there. He was a proud member of Knights of Columbus Council #3287 for 59 years and 4th Degree of KofC Assembly #1106. Robert was privileged to serve as honor guard alongside his fellow brothers at St. Pope John Paul II’s papal visit to San Antonio in 1987. Robert’s love of Country followed behind his love of God. He served ten years in the Texas Army National Guard and was mobilized to Fort Polk, LA during the Berlin crisis.

Robert attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and graduated from Brenham High School. While at BHS, he lettered in track and football. His team was later honored in the Brenham Cub Hall of Honor. He went on to graduate from Blinn College where he also ran track for the Buccanneers. A loyal Cub and Buc fan, you could often hear him shouting “Let’s go Big Green!” or “Come on Cubbies!” in the stands alongside his children and grandchildren.

In early 1964, he met Ora Nell Kokemor at a local dance. He knew she was “the one,” and they were united in marriage November 29, 1964. They shared 42 years together until her passing in 2006.

He worked tirelessly at every job he had. For 18 years he was the parts manager for City Auto Supply. Then in 1981, he became manager of K&H Portable Toilets which he owned with his lifelong friends, John Kenjura and Ted Zientek, and his son, Darrell. He was proud of his success in managing and growing the business for 26 years.

He is survived by his children Darrell & Lynda Murski and Jonathan & Michelle Zschech; grandchildren Steven & Ashley Murski, Andrew, Madeline & Tyler Zschech; uncle & aunt, Paul & Marylou Kenjura, all of Brenham; brothers-in-law, Terry Willis of Cypress and Ben Trombatore of Temple; sisters-in-law, Caroline Kokemor of CA and Ginny Kokemor of PA; and numerous other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and sisters Rita Willis and Mary Trombatore.

Steven Murski, Andrew Zschech, Valentino Piementel, Joaquin Sanchez, Ted Zientek, and Mike Kluck will serve as pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree, members of the Washington County and Brenham Big Bass Clubs, current and former employees of K&H Portable Toilets, Perry Lee Thomas, and Allan “Hoggie Hide” Gaskamp,
