Robert Petty

Robert Jean Bob Petty, 84, of Brenham, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2006. He was born Sept. 12, 1922 in Dallas to George Wyatt and Jessie Josephine Monchein Petty. Mr. Petty was employed by Gulf Oil in Houston and New Orleans, having retired in 1982 after 39 years of service. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy. Mr. Petty was a very active member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Sandy Hill, served on the board of Northeast Washington County Water District and was a member of Prairie Hill-Rocky Hill Volunteer Fire Department. Survivors are his wife, Alice Smart Petty; daughters and sons-in-law, Susie and Warren Gough of Lithia, Florida and Mickey and Tom Balcerowicz of Houston; grandchildren, Michael and wife Trish Gough of Sarasota, Florida, Thomas Gough of Valrico, Florida, Jennifer and husband Bob Hanson of Valrico, Florida, Sarah Balcerowicz of Houston; great-grandchildren, Alexander, Christopher and Hudson Gough of Sarasota, Florida; sister-in-law, Billie and Roland Johnson; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Petty was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and his mother-in-law. The family will receive visitors Thursday, Dec. 7 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church with Pastor Jim Abbott officiating. Burial will be at Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham. Pallbearers will be Warren Gough, Tom Balcerowicz, Johnny Barkwill, Troy Head, Stanley Sommer, Bobby Hohlt, Byron Hohlt and Randy Johnson. Memorials may be given to St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Sandy Hill.
