Robert Preuss, Sr.

Robert Preuss, Sr., 92, of Brenham, died March 4, 2003, in Trinity Care Center in Brenham. Mr. Preuss was born Sept. 27, 1910, in Washington County, Texas, to Willie and Louise Quebe Preuss. He was baptized in 1910 in St. John s Lutheran Church in Prairie Hill by Pastor Apfelbach and was confirmed April 10, 1927, in Zion Lutheran Church in Zionsville by Pastor Karl Mueller. He was educated in Washington County schools. On Sept. 3, 1933, he was married to Frieda Hermann in St. Paul s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brenham. He was a retired farmer and rancher. Mr. Preuss was a member of St. Paul s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brenham and the Sons of Hermann Lodge #6. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Robert Jr. and Jeanette Preuss of Brenham; daughter and son-in-law, Gloria Jean and Merle Toomes of Pearland; grandchildren, Jody Preuss and wife Anna, Jeffery Preuss and wife Belinda, Jared Preuss, Jason Preuss, Christopher Toomes and wife Alyssa, Michael Scott Toomes and Matthew Toomes; great-grandchildren, Walker Toomes, Avery Toomes, Jessica Preuss, Jennifer Preuss, Justin Preuss, Eric Preuss, Holdan Preuss, Emily Preuss and Mason Chapman; brother, Alvin Preuss of Houston; sister, Dorothy Preuss of Houston; brother-in-law, Fritz Hermann; and sister-in-law, Mrs. Richard Clara Hermann; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frieda Preuss; his parents; brother, Herbert Preuss; sister, Irene Preuss; and daughter, Carolyn Joan Preuss. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 7 in St. Paul s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brenham with Pastor Lawrence Bade and Pastor Kim Little-Brooks officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 6 in Memorial Oaks Chapel. Pallbearers will be Jody Ray Preuss, Jeffrey L. Preuss, Jared W. Preuss, Jason L. Preuss, Michael Scott Toomes, Matthew Toomes and Christopher Toomes. Memorials may be given to St. Paul s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brenham or Hospice Brazos Valley. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., in Brenham.
