Robert Curtis Sanders, 75 of Brenham, passed away August 30, 2023 in College Station, Texas surrounded by his family. Robert is preceded by his parents, Homer and Wilma (Smith) Sanders, and his second wife, Judy (Schroeder) Sanders. He is survived by his sons: Brian Sanders and wife, Shelly of Bryan, Brent Sanders and wife Tara of Franklin; step-son: Chris Cone and wife, Daisy of Tomball; step-daughter: Cathy Hartness and husband, James of Conroe; brother: Jim Sanders and wife, Davida of Columbia, SC; grandchildren: Ty Navarrete, Bryson Minar, Tee Crocker, Cody Sanders, Catelyn Crocker, Jacob Sanders, Jaxon Davenel, Kohen Davenel, Landry Davenel, Michael Rodriguez, Brooklyn Cone, Johnathan Smith; his close friend and companion: Diana Heitfeld and numerous other relatives. He is also survived by his first wife and the mother of his children, Judy Emley and husband, Gary.
Robert was born June 27, 1948 in Decatur, Texas. Robert attended grade school in Alvord, Texas. His family later moved to Wichita Falls, Texas where he graduated from High School. Robert began his career in the petrochemical industry in Houston at Fish Engineering, currently Technip. He was the Department Head of the Flowsheet Design Group where he was well respected, a mentor, and a friend to all. He retired in 2014 after 45 years of dedication.
When not at work in his younger years, Robert was an avid softball player. He also coached his sons in Little League and coached Lady’s Softball. Robert was also a member of The Missouri City Volunteer Fire Department. Throughout his life, Robert loved the outdoors. He enjoyed working cattle and baling hay on his ranch. He loved to take road trips and travel. Robert was an avid sports fan. He loved baseball, especially the Houston Astros, and rooted for the Houston Texans. He enjoyed his grandchildren and attended games and activities they were involved in. Robert will always be remembered as a dedicated and hardworking man who loved life, his family, friends and his ranch.
Visitation will be Friday, September 8th with the family present from 6pm-8pm. The funeral service will be 10am Saturday, September 9th at Memorial Oaks Chapel, Brenham. Burial will follow in Welcome Lutheran Cemetery with a Celebration of Life following at the Welcome Store, 12528 FM 109, Industry, TX, with catered bbq luncheon.
Pallbearers include Jason Griffin, Mark Schwartz, Jacob Sanders, Bryson Minar, Cody Sanders, Michael Rodriguez, Jaxon Davenel, Kohen Davenel and Landry Davenel.
