Ronald Lowell Langenkamp, 59, of the Wiedeville community in Washington County, Texas, died in the family residence on the afternoon of Tuesday, August 31, 2004. He was born to Fred Lowell & Lucille Cape Langenkamp on April 17, 1945 in Surfside, Texas. After serving in the United States Army between 1964 and 1967, Ron earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at Sam Houston State University and a Master of Arts degree from the University of Texas. On October 4, 1977, he and Martha Washam were married in Houston, Texas. Over the years, Ron was employed as a prison guard, milkman, short-order cook, teacher, policeman, reporter, personnel placement advisor and finally, spent 28 years as an energy transponster. Ron had wanted to be a rural mail carrier and a plumber, but just never got around to it. Ron was baptized during the 1990 Easter Vigil in Christ Church Cathedral in Houston. He was confirmed during the 1992 Easter Vigil in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Houston. After moving to Brenham, he and his family became active members of St. Mary s Catholic Church. Ron is survived by his wife, Martha, of Brenham; his mother, Lucille Langenkamp of Lake Jackson, Texas; his daughters Hannah R. Langenkamp of College Station and Sadie Langenkamp of Brenham; by his sons and daughters-in-law: Tyler L. & Ginny Langenkamp of Houston, Timothy C. & Erin Langenkamp of Houston, Zachary S. Langenkamp of College Station and Lt. Cpl. Jacob E. Langenkamp of Quantico, Virginia and his sister and brother-in-law, Linda L.& Bo Chalberg of Boerne, Texas. Ron was Opa to Grace, Claire, Abby and Caroline Langenkamp. He is preceded in death by his father. A rosary will be recited in Memorial Oaks Chapel on Friday evening, September 3, 2004 at 7 o clock. The family will receive callers beginning at 6 o clock as well as following the recitation of the rosary. The Funeral Mass will be offered by Fr. David Ivey in St. Mary s Catholic Church on Saturday, September 4, 2004 at 4:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery at Wiedeville, Texas. Serving as pallbearers for the funeral will be Duncan Oyevaar, Ruut Schalij and Pieter Jobsis, Ron s associates from the Netherlands, his nephews, Toby and Christopher Chalberg of Atlanta and Dallas, and a very good friend, Jacob McKee of Brenham. Memorials may be given either to Hospice Brazos Valley or to the Pipe Organ Fund at St. Mary s Catholic Church in Brenham.
