Rose Nicholas

Rose D. Nicholas, 89, of Austin, passed away January 18, 2011 in Austin. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 22, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham. Pastor Burkholder of Trinity Baptist Church in Austin will officiate. Interment will be in St. Paul''s Lutheran Church Cemetery in Rehburg. Mrs. Nicholas was born April 22, 1921 in Austin to Calvin Porter and Alma Brau Davis. After completing high school, she was employed as a bookkeeper. Rose was also self-employed as a hairdresser. An artist, Rose created landscapes, nature scenes and still life in her paintings, sharing her artistic talents with her family and friends. Rose is the widow of James W. "Nick" Nicholas, who preceded her in death in 1976. Three sisters survive her: Lillian Bailey and Lucille Priest, both of Austin, and Nancy Sears of Temple. Also surviving is her nephew, George C.
