Rosie Konieczny

July 2, 1944 — June 1, 2020

Rosie Marie Konieczny, 75 passed away June 1, 2020 at her Chappell Hill residence with her family by her side. She had lived in Houston for over 50 years, but had recently moved to Chappell Hill where she was born and she was very happy to be back in the country to live out her remaining life. Aunt Rosie, as she was fondly called, battled cancer for many years, but now is in peace with our Lord Jesus Christ.

A family graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, June 20, 2020 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church Calvary Cemetery, Brenham Texas, where Rosie will be buried next to her parent’s grave. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend.

Rosie Marie Konieczny was delivered by a midwife in birth on July 2, 1944 in Chappell Hill, Texas to Peter and Josephine (Murski) Konieczny. She was baptized in Chappell Hill at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, where she received her religious education, while attending Chappell Hill Public School. She never married and lived with her sisters Natalie and Evelyn while living in Houston. Rosie was the second youngest sibling in a family of six sisters and one brother – Irene, Barbara, Emily, Natalie, Evelyn, Rosie, and Joe Eddie.

She was employed in various manufacturing and sales jobs while living in Houston and was proud of her award as Employee of the Year. Rosie enjoyed taking day trips in her sporty red 1996 Cavalier Chevrolet with her sisters, keeping up with politics, reading the Bible, maintaining a beautiful yard, and collecting a unique miniature cactus collection, which she was very proud of, especially her little concrete donkey cactus named Burrito.

Rosie Marie was preceded in death by her parents – Peter and Josephine Konieczny, her sisters – Natalie and Evelyn, her sisters & brother-in-laws – Irene & Billy Gurka and Emily & Ray Harbor, her brother – Joe Eddie Konieczny, and a nephew PA Gurka.

Rosie is survived by her sister – Barbara Gurka, and numerous nieces & nephews, grandnieces & grandnephews and their children, and her sister-in-law Irene Konieczny. Aunt Rosie will be very much missed by her nieces and nephews – Theresa, Jackie, James, Joe, and Alvin.
