Ruby Anna Landua Kelm, age 102, was called home to her Savior, June 6, 2017, to be reunited with her loving husband Melvin, on the 80th anniversary of their marriage.
Ruby was born in the Charlesville community of Burton, Texas on March 8, 1915 to Paul Landua and Olivia Broesche Landua.
Ruby was baptized May 9, 1915 by Rev. Herman Weber of Rehburg Lutheran Church, Rehburg, Texas and confirmed on March 24, 1929 by Rev. C. A. Lehne of Rehburg Lutheran Church.
She was educated in the Charlesville Public School.
Ruby and Melvin Otto Kelm were united in marriage on June 6, 1937 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Rehburg by Pastor C. A. Lehne. They continued to share and expand their faith for more than 60 years at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Brenham.
Ruby enjoyed her family, cooking, gardening, quilting, dancing, playing pitch and dominoes with her and Melvin’s many friends. Her role as a dedicated mother and wife could be witnessed as she loved to attend sporting and social events in which her children were participants. She was involved in numerous church activities and organizations. She cherished her time sharing stories of her brothers and sister with her nephews and nieces, passing on information of their childhood in Rehburg.
Ruby is survived by her daughter, Mary Lee Crump and husband, Troy; son, Thomas Wayne Kelm and wife, Peggy; son, Charles Andrew Kelm and wife, Patricia; daughter, Jo Lynn Davis and husband, Steve. She is also survived by grandchildren: Julie Campos and husband, Steve; Matthew Kelm and wife, Robin; Lauren Haevischer and husband, Darren; Marian Eckert and husband, Michael; Mitchell Davis and wife, Aubrey; Elliott Davis and fiancée, Larissa Green; and Payton Kelm. Great-grandchildren: Cara Campos, Colin Campos, Eva Kelm, Simone Kelm, Laityn Davis, Chet Eckert, Hudson Eckert, twins Reese and Hattie Haevischer and Henry Davis, sister-in-law, Gladys Wilhelmsen, numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 77 years, Melvin Otto Kelm; her parents Paul and Olivia Landua; grandson, Joshua Ian Kelm; sister and brother-in-law, Edna and Edwin Kelm; brother and sister-in-law, Lespa and Adeline Landua; brother and sister-in-law, R Lee and Bernadine Landua; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Alex and Florence Kelm; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Anita and Karl Duerr; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bob and Esther Legan; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Raymond and Rosalie Kelm; brother-in-law, Henry Wilhelmsen.
The family wishes to express thanks to Ruby’s special friend Kathy Kugel and the caring staff of Brenham Nursing and Rehab, along with many previous caregivers who helped in so many ways.
Honorary Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Family visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m., Thursday, June 8, 2017 at Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main, Brenham.
Funeral Services celebrating the life of Ruby Anna Landua Kelm will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, June 9, 2017 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Brenham, 305 West Third St., with Pastor Brianna Merkle officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorials be made to St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church Radio Ministry, or to a local charity of choice.
